Main Street runs from the roundabout near the Station (which everyone seems to have a different name for - depending on what connections and associations they have had with it, I don't think it has a 'formal' name - I like 'Just's Corner', which I think was named after the garage that was there), between Yewbarrow Terrace and the Ornamental Gardens, then up the hill past Victoria Hall and the shops. It turns right at Crown Hill (The Esplanade was a later road) and ends at the Pig Lane / Kents Bank Road / Grange Fell Road crossroads.
The following is a series of photos, mainly postcards with a few from the council in Victoria Hall. There are four sets, showing the main four sections of Main Street at differing times. The vast majority are taken from Crown Hill looking down the road between the shops.
