Tree Walks around the town
The Grange Natural History Society have produced three leaflets showing footpaths and suggested walking routes around lower Grange, together with locations of some notable and mature trees, their names and comments such as some identifying features.
Information on the trees and their leaf shapes is included. Click on the links for a pdf of each - or scroll down to see poorer quality versions.
Walk 1 covers a circuit of the Ornamental Pond, incorporating the Sunken Memorial Garden, Community Orchard and trees in the grounds around the former Yewbarrow Gardens. The nearby Hazelmere Cafe & Bakery can provide a ‘Picnic in the Park’ to take away. Click here to download the cover page. Click here to download the inside page
Walk 2 is a circular walk from the TIC and Garden Plant Centre, along the promenade to Clare Lane Bridge, through Rockland Wood, then Kents Bank Road or Fernleigh Road to the trees around the library and on to the TIC. Click here to download the cover page. Click here to download the inside page
Walk 3 is a tree tour of Park Road Gardens, including the Sensory Garden and moat around the Bandstand. Here the Grange Natural History Society has provided a panel showing some of the wildlife to be found in the garden; Watchers shop has provided bird boxes etc and adjacent Clare House Hotel may provide afternoon teas.
